Peter Jackson gets a Halo

Maybe I am a bit slow, but I was just looking at the IMDB profile of Peter Jackson (director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy) and it says that he's been announced to direct a movie based off the Halo game:

In the war against an alien race known as the Covenant, Master Chief and the crew of a battleship known as "The Pillar of Autumn" crash land on a mysterious structure known as "HALO", the ring world. Now, Master Chief, along with help from The Pillar of Autumn's sentient computer A.I., Cortana, must unlock the destructive secrets of "HALO" before the Covenant does.

I haven't played it but I know a bunch of people who have and love it, so it'll be very interesting to see how this develops.

Comments:
Hopefully he has a walk on in the film too. Though of course he would need to justify in the plot as to why a portly kiwi with beard and shorts was wondering around...

I've always thought that someone should put Larry Niven's "Ringworld" onto film. Even Halo should be a great visual feast, especially if they spend the moolah on the special effects for the ring itself.

I could never get used to playing the game though - using two joysticks simultaneously with my thumbs is just a bit too wierd for me...

Are there homeless people in HALO?

Heh, listen to Techno with his 80's single joystick preference.

Me too...
